The Indian Society for Comparative Animal
Physiology (ISCAP) was established in the year 1978 in the Department of
Zoology, S.V. University, Tirupati as its head quarters and was officially
registered in 1981. The first annual meeting of ISCAP was held in the
Department of Zoology, S.V. University, Tirupati. Around 300 delegates from
different parts of the country attended this meeting. Late Prof. K.S. Swami was the founder
President and continued till 1987. The present President of the ISCAP is Prof.
M. Ramachandra Mohan. One of the Vice-Presidents, the Secretary and the
Treasurer are always from the local body in head quarters. Currently Prof K.
Sathyavelu Reddy, Prof. M. Bhaskar and Prof. P. Jacob Dass were nominated as
Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively in 2012 and looking after
the Society activities actively. The Society has conducted so far 26 Annual
Meetings all over India by encouraging Senior Scientists and young researchers
in the field of Physiology from time to time by awarding, late K.S. Swami
Memorial Prize at each Conference for the best paper presentation in the
Competitive Session.
